What is it really like to have a private equity firm as a co-owner?
At some point, many owners begin to consider a full or partial sale of their business. But what changes in practice when a private equity firm becomes part of the ownership structure?
This was the central theme when Flair Capital, together with Mangaard Group, SKOV Advokater and Nykredit & Spar Nord, hosted our event on the 22nd September as part of the Owners’ Growth Forum.
Peter F Jensby, CEO and co-owner of HMK Bilcon, shared his experience of bringing Dansk Ejerkapital on board as an investor, from the initial considerations and alignment of expectations to the partnership and continued development of the company.
Dan Højgaard Jensen, Managing Partner at Dansk Ejerkapital, then shared the private equity firm’s perspective on active ownership, value creation and the partnership with an owner who remains involved in the business.
HMK Bilcon’s development also provided a timely backdrop to the discussion. Following Dansk Ejerkapital’s investment in 2023, the company has continued to grow and was recently sold to Nordic Resilience Equity.
The discussion was moderated by Laura Uggla, Chair of the Board of ARoS Aarhus Art Museum and Board Member of Kredsløb, among other roles, and prompted a number of insightful questions and perspectives from the audience.
Following the presentations, the afternoon continued with tapas, wine and engaging conversations and exchange of experiences among the participants.
A big thank you to Peter Jensby, Dan Højgaard Jensen and Laura Uggla for sharing their experiences, and to all participants for their engagement and valuable contributions to the discussion.
